Job Description: *CDL REQUIRED Responsible for operating a variety of solid waste vehicles to collect and transport solid waste and refuse materials, mechanism for loading, compressing, and dumping refuse. Drives to designated area to deliver refuse, safely operates the solid waste collection truck; safely operates the packing and dumping apparatus; assures that solid waste collection truck is properly fueled, equipped, lubricated, and serviced; washes interior and exterior of solid waste collection truck; reports needed repairs immediately; may have the opportunity to participate in related cross training opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain safe and efficient operation of solid waste collection and transport equipment and vehicles. Perform pre-trip/ post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily work sheet for equipment operated. Keep work location and vehicle in order. Knowledge of – traffic laws involved in equipment operations; safe operations of and safety precautions necessary in operation of equipment, including various types of solid waste collection trucks. Ability to - communicate effectively, understand, and carry out written and oral instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public. Primary Duties
1. Performs basic level functions required to operate, maintain, test, and calibrate measurement, regulating and/or instrumentation and control facilities and systems
2. Performs activities to ensure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies
3. Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with company and regulatory requirements
4. Executes scheduled equipment inspections, tests, calibrations, maintenance and replacements as needed according to company and regulatory requirements on:
- electronic correctors, EFMs and flow measurement devices
- natural gas pressure regulation equipment
- natural gas odorizing equipment.
5. Assists with basic functions related to:
- large diaphragm, orifice, and meters
- review of lost and unaccounted for gas information provided by internal systems
6. Performs basic duties related to inspecting, testing, calibrating and maintaining of natural gas quality
7. Coordinates and performs measurement tests with third party companies to ensure measurement integrity, accuracy and verify meeting of contractual requirements
8. Monitors natural gas quality to ensure contract compliance and initiates enforcement actions when needed
9. Performs such work in accordance with company, regulatory and safety procedures
10. Read and work the Louisiana One Call notifications. Maintain a permanent record of each notification
11. Check reported leaks and repair as needed. Maintain documentation before and after leaks are repaired
12. Complete and report annual leak survey for Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA)
13. Install gas service from gas main through the meter assembly
14. Install and maintain pressure gauges at various points on the gas mains
15. Read Odorant station gauges, refill as necessary, and complete monthly reports
16. Complete annual Cathodic Protection survey
17. Lubricate and service main gas valves
18. Read meters monthly, maintain accurate records, report readings to administrative office for billing
19. Check regulator stations, pressure relief valves, and calibrate meters and other department test equipment on a regular basis
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will be required to hold stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call outs, and occasional extensive hours.
Is subject to reporting outside regular work area.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Educational/Experience Level:

CUSTODIAL MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEE
The Custodian / Maintenance Employee’s primary function is to perform the core essential duties of a building maintenance and custodian assigned by the Parish Manager. The position requires flexibility. The Maintenance/Custodian position requires a skill set that can inspect and perform general maintenance repairs and renovations to all buildings maintained by the Grant Parish Police Jury. Maintenance duties are semi-skilled and do not require journeyman trade of craft knowledge. The position requires the ability to inspect, facilities and conduct minor maintenance on building, fixtures, furnishings, cleaning debris removal and grounds keeping equipment. They should be able to troubleshoot maintenance problems and handle coordinating repairs and renovations with the facilities manager that may include the coordination of services provided by outside vendors.
The Custodian / Maintenance Employee’s essential duties and responsibilities is to perform routine custodial maintenance, cleaning, and grounds keeping tasks in assigned parish buildings and grounds. Additionally, this position may be assigned other maintenance duties as directed by Facilities Manager. The core essential duties and responsibilities are performed in a public building environment and include use of electrically powered cleaning equipment and cleaning substances that may involve related hazards and outdoor work in inclement weather conditions.
The Custodian / Maintenance Employee’s typical duties performed are cleaning, dusting, sweeping, washing, buffing and waxing floors, washing windows, changing light bulbs, sweeping/blowing walks, cutting lawns, removing debris, caring for custodial equipment, emptying wastebaskets, removing trash, operating low pressure heating and ventilating systems, ordering custodial supplies, and making minor repairs to buildings, equipment, and heating, lighting, ventilating, and plumbing systems.
The Custodian / Maintenance Employee operates, maintains, and performs minor repairs to powered custodial equipment including, but not limited to, vacuums, strippers, waxers, buffers shampoo cleaners and power washers.
The Custodian / Maintenance Employee operates hand cleaning equipment including, but not limited to, brooms, dust and wet mops, dust pans, and dusters.
The Custodian / Maintenance Employee operates, maintains, and performs minor repairs to grounds keeping equipment including, but not limited to, mowers, edgers, weed cutters, irrigation systems, blowers, and related equipment.

The Custodian / Maintenance Employee cleans and sanitizes restroom areas, including toilets,urinals, sinks, mirrors, privacy dividers, walls and floors, maintains supply levels in restrooms, including toilet paper, paper towels, and soap, washes any graffiti off any surface after informing administration immediately, and secures all doors and windows.
The Custodian / Maintenance Employee maintains grounds, including sidewalks, parking lots, common areas, and planting areas, by picking up litter and trash, mowing grass, weeding planting areas, and irrigating, performs debris removal duties, and ground keeping tasks such as mowing, weeding, watering, sprinkler repair, etc.
The Custodian / Maintenance Employee maintains the treatment of drains, flushing of water, and air quality cleaning.
The Custodian / Maintenance Employee interacts with the public, staff, administration, and inmates effectively and professionally, maintains confidentiality, performs all work duties and activities in accordance with Grant Parish Police Jury’s policies, procedures, and safety practices, performs multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner, works independently or with a team, and performs other related duties as required.

Summary:
The Mechanic works under the direction of the Superintendent. The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing parish vehicles and equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Under general direction of the Roads Superintendent: to plan, assign, and direct the work of road crews within Grant Parish; to supervise the maintenance, repair, and construction of roads, culverts, and bridges; to perform highly skilled heavy road construction and maintenance equipment operations; and to do related work as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Incumbents in this class are responsible for supervising and directing the work of assigned Road Maintenance and Landfill Workers in maintaining highways, bridges, municipal and rural roads, and rights-of-way in safe conditions while routinely inspecting all primary and secondary roads in Grant Parish under the direction of the Roads Superintendent. Incumbents in this class are subject to twenty-four hour "call-out" for road related emergencies.
Requirements
In addition to supervisory responsibilities, incumbents must hold and maintain a current Class A CDL, skillfully operate a wide variety of specialized heavy construction and road maintenance equipment, maintain parish bridges, and assist the Roads Superintendent with daily departmental operations.

The Road Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision and operation activities of all parish road maintenance and landfill crews.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are typical for this classification. The Road Maintenance Supervisor may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
· Supervise the work activities of subordinate employees to ensure work assignments are completed correctly in a timely manner.
· Shift priorities, staff and resources to maximize the productivity and/or effectiveness of the Road's Division of Public Works.
· Establish consistent performance standards and expectations for all assigned staff to help ensure the Division's business objectives are met.
· Complete employee performance evaluations and probationary reports to document and/or correct employee behavior to ensure employee is working at acceptable standards.
· Resolve performance problems by planning and implementing measures to improve employee performance.

· Operate a variety of light and moderately heavy road maintenance equipment and auxiliary equipment such as pickups, oil trucks, water trucks, backhoes, rollers, forklifts, dump trucks, brush trucks and chippers, spray trucks, rock blades, cement mixers and power brooms needed to perform assigned road maintenance tasks.

SKILLS:
· Must hold a valid Class A CDL or obtain within 90 days.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be
Experience:
Prefer two years of experience as a Road Maintenance lead worker or eight years of experience in road construction or road maintenance work of which two years should have been in a lead worker or supervisory capacity.
Education:
Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance.
License or Certificate:*
Possession of a valid Louisiana Driver’s License with Class A CDL.*Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with the Grant Parish Police Jury. For continued employment with the Grant Parish Police Jury you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.
